“Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: Because you have been more insubordinate than the nations around you — you have not walked in My statutes or kept My ordinances; you have not even kept the ordinances of the nations around you — therefore, this is what the Lord God says: See, I am against you, Jerusalem, and I will execute judgments within you in the sight of the nations. Because of all your detestable practices, I will do to you what I have never done before and what I will never do again. As a result, fathers will eat their sons within Jerusalem, and sons will eat their fathers. I will execute judgments against you and scatter all your survivors to every direction of the wind. Ezekiel 5:7-10 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
Before you read anymore, read the passage again and ponder the Lord’s response to His chosen people’s detestable sins.
My heart is broken as I place myself in God’s position and look at those that He has chosen and loved, only to see them disobeying Him, disrespecting Him, and failing to show others the way to have true fellowship with Him. God must have been weeping as He came to the decision to punish them because of their unrepentant sinful lives. Even when punishment is necessary, as parents it hurts us when we know that our children, the ones we love, are not being obedient to our commands.
God did not punish them in private, He punished them in public view of every nation that was around them. Some would die and some would be scattered to other nations. As I look at myself and as I look at the church, I wonder, are we at a place where God Is thinking of, or is currently executing judgment against us because we are not doing what He has called us to do? I pray that it’s not too late for us to repent and turn back to God so that we may be used by Him to do His work.
Let us spend some time today to reflect on our lives, and honestly see ourselves for who we truly are and repent where we need to. As we return to God may we never fail to do His will. It is my prayer that our fellowship with Him will be renewed, restored and rejuvenated so that our lives will lead others to Him.
