John 17:20-21 – “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
Good morning fellow disciples.
As believers, Jesus wants us to be united. Not only should we be united with each other, but we need to be united with God. As we remain united with God, we proclaim the gospel through our words and lifestyle, thus leading others to believe in God.
Jesus’ prayer for unity reminds us of the power of prayer in bridging divides and fostering reconciliation.
When we witness division, discord, or hatred, prayer becomes a vital tool for healing and restoration. We can pray for God to bring about reconciliation, to soften hearts, to inspire forgiveness, and to cultivate a spirit of unity among believers and across cultural, political, and social divides. By praying for unity, we acknowledge our dependence on God and invite His Spirit to work within us and among us.
By seeking God’s unity through prayer and actively pursuing reconciliation, we can experience the transformative power of His presence. As we pray for forgiveness and a spirit of unity, and commit to building bridges, we will find that our hearts are filled with hope, our lives are infused with purpose, and our world becomes a more peaceful and harmonious place.
Let us pray for unity among our fellow disciples, for future disciples, and for the world at large.
Prayer: Father God, we pray for unity among Your children. Help us to stay committed to You and to remain in You. May our lives lead others to believe in You so that they too can experience true unity and peace. Amen
