Praying for the Future

By Andrew Williams

Proverbs 16:3 – “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

Good morning fellow disciples.

Are you praying about your future?

The wise words of Proverbs 16:3 remind us of the critical importance of entrusting our plans and aspirations to the Lord. As believers, we are called to surrender the trajectory of our lives to God, acknowledging that His ways and thoughts are higher than our own (Isaiah 55:8-9).

When we commit our futures to the Lord through prayer, we open ourselves up to receive His divine guidance and direction. We should ask God to reveal His will for our lives, our families, our communities, and even the world at large. By seeking His wisdom and aligning our desires with His purposes, we position ourselves to see His plans unfold in powerful ways.

As we pray for the future, we can also bring our personal dreams, goals, and aspirations before the Lord. Whether it is a longing to see a loved one come to faith, a desire to pursue a particular vocation, or a vision for positive change in our communities, we can confidently entrust these hopes to our heavenly Father, knowing that He delights in fulfilling the desires of our hearts (Psalm 37:4).

Ultimately, the act of praying for the future is an expression of our faith in God’s sovereign control and His perfect timing. Though the future may seem uncertain from our limited perspective, we can take comfort in the truth that the Lord has already established the plans He has for us (Jeremiah 29:11).

As we continue to seek Him, we can move forward with bold confidence, knowing that He will faithfully guide us every step of the way.

Prayer: Father God, we surrender our future to You! Lead, guide, and direct us! Amen.
