Praying for Justice

By Andrew Williams

Micah 6:8 – “‭No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. ‬‬

Good morning fellow disciples.

In Micah 6, the prophet confronts the people of Israel regarding their unfaithfulness and lack of justice. Amidst the accusations, Micah 6:8 outlines God’s righteous requirements for His people – to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him.

Are you acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God?

Are you seeking to do what is right and to stand up for the oppressed?

Are you interceding for those who are facing injustice?

Have you been asking God to work through you to bring about the justice He requires?

Prayer: Father God, this world and even your church is filled with so much injustice. We act religiously but we truly are not obeying You. We are not merciful, and we have not humbled ourselves to walk with You.

Father God, we confess that we have sinned. We humble ourselves and repent, Lord. Help us to do what is right. We now bring to you all those who are being oppressed and who are facing injustice. Intervene on their behalf Lord! Use us to bring justice for them. Amen.
