Praying at All Times: Our Divine Communication Line

September 25, 2025

By Andrew Williams

Opening Prayer:
Holy Spirit, teach us to pray at all times, making our lives a continuous line of communication with our victorious King.

Today’s Scripture: Ephesians 6:18(NLT)
“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”

After listing all the armor, Paul gives us the context in which we must wear it: prayer. Prayer is not just a devotional practice; it is a critical strategy in spiritual warfare. The armor prepares us for the fight, but prayer connects us to the power source. We must be “praying at all times and on every occasion.” This means prayer is not a one-time event, but a constant, ongoing conversation—a divine communication line.

Prayer is where we engage God’s power in our circumstances. When you pray, you are aligning your will with God’s perfect will, and inviting His intervention in the physical and spiritual realms. Prayer also keeps us “alert.” It forces us to slow down, recognize the reality of the unseen battle, and intentionally seek divine wisdom before reacting in our own strength.

Notice that Paul stresses persistence and breadth in our prayers—praying not just for ourselves, but “for all believers everywhere.” Spiritual warfare is communal, and prayer is the engine of our unity and our mutual defence. When we pray for one another, we are strengthening the entire army of God.

Disciple’s Life Tip:
Practice “Interruption Prayer” today. Every time you are interrupted—by a text, a difficult thought, an unexpected delay, or a new task—don’t just react. Use that moment as a cue to briefly pray, “Lord, help me be alert right now. Give me wisdom for this moment.”

Closing Encouragement:
Let us be persistent and alert in our prayers, knowing that every moment of communion with God is a victory against the enemy. Amen.
