Now Elijah the Tishbite, from the Gilead settlers, said to Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives, I stand before Him, and there will be no dew or rain during these years except by my command! ”
1 Kings 17:1 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
Declare means to make known as a determination.
Proclaim means to declare publicly, typically insistently, proudly, or defiantly and in either speech or writing.
In this passage we see Elijah the Tishbite proclaiming God’s word. Remember that we said that prayer is communicating with God. Sometimes God uses an intermediary to proclaim His word to us, especially when our relationship with Him is not what it should be.
We see here that God used Elijah the prophet to speak to Ahab. When we examine the Bible we see that prophets generally speak to persons who are not in right relationship with God. They bring God’s word to persons who generally are not seeking God, or who are rebelling against God, but are in need of hearing from God.
Note how Elijah proclaimed with authority God’s word to Ahab and Israel: “As the Lord God of Israel lives, I stand before Him, and there will be no dew or rain during these years except by my command! ”
Having spent time with God, speaking to Him and listening to Him, there are times when we need to speak to our problems or to others in an authoritative way. We need to decree, declare, and proclaim!
Remember that you are an ambassador for Christ and the kingdom of God. Speak boldy with the authority that you have as a disciple of Christ!
Prayer: So they removed the stone. Then Jesus raised His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You heard Me. I know that You always hear Me, but because of the crowd standing here I said this, so they may believe You sent Me.”
After He said this, He shouted with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out! ”

The Result: The dead man came out bound hand and foot with linen strips and with his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him and let him go.”
