question, who, how

Philemon 1:3 – Where is the Holy Spirit?

By Andrew Williams – May 21, 2021

Scripture : “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Philemon 1:3 NKJV

Observation : One of the doctrines of the church is the trinity referring to the oneness of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I am wondering why there’s no mention of the Holy Spirit in this greeting. Is it because Paul did not recognize Him as part of the godhead, or is it because Paul recognized Him as being present here on Earth with the saints and did not have to greet them in His name (Holy Spirit) ?

Jesus did say that when He left he would send the comforter to be with us always. Because the Holy Spirit is with us and we don’t have to say that we are greeting you on His behalf. It would so weird to greet you in somebody else’s name when they are present right there with you.

Application : I recognize the Holy Spirit has been present with me at all times. He is my comforter and my friend who brings me into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ and Father God.
I yield to God’s Holy Spirit who is representing the godhead here on Earth.

Prayer : Father God show me Your Truth and give me wisdom and understanding from Your word as Your Holy Spirit continues to teach me. This I ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
