Philemon 1:17 – The Same

By Andrew Williams – June 19, 2021

Scripture: If then you count me as a partner, receive him as you would me.
Philemon 1:17 NKJV

Observation : “Seriously Paul”! What a piece of audacity? My slave ran away, you found him, you are sending him back to me, and I should treat him the way I would treat you!

Paul was bold, very bold ! But Paul was looking beyond the physical. He knew who Onesimus was now, and he knew who Philemon was. The were both saved by Christ, and so along with Paul they were all brothers in Christ. They were one !

Jew, gentile, free, slave: all are the same in Christ.

Application : I will see persons the way they are in Christ, as my brothers and sisters. I will value this spiritual status more than any worldly status.

Prayer : Lord Jesus, thank you for making us the same in the sight of God. Help us to see and understand who we really are in You and help us to live our lives the way that pleases You. Amen

  1. Amen. We are in trouble. How many times have we been guilty of this very same thing? At times we look down on others because of different factors….socioeconomic status, education, …….the unsaved and our subordinates forgetting that we are all valuable to God……none valuing more than the other….and that He didn’t come to condemn but to save and give us all eternal life not to some but to all. May we see each others the way God sees us.
