Petition God for Understanding and Wisdom

“Now, O Lord my God, you have made me king instead of my father, David, but I am like a little child who doesn’t know his way around. And here I am in the midst of your own chosen people, a nation so great and numerous they cannot be counted! Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?”
1 Kings 3:7‭-‬9 NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

By Andrew Williams

Good morning fellow disciples.

Petition: something asked or requested, an earnest request.

Like Solomon:

1. Have you been placed in a position of authority but feel as if you are like a little child who doesn’t know his way around?

2. Do you feel overwhelmed by the amount of people who are surrounding you?

3. Do you feel as if you can’t govern these people properly?

4. Have you petitioned God for wisdom and understanding so that you can deal with this task?

My fellow disciple, God has a plan and a purpose for your life. He wants to see you succeed. Be like Solomon and ask God for what you need in order to be an effective ambassador in God’s Kingdom.

Prayer: Father God, sometimes the call on my life seems so daunting. I feel so lost at times, and sometimes I have no clue as to what to do. I am surrounded by persons who are looking to me to lead effectively, but I feel like an unschooled child.

Father, I’m calling on you to give me the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding that I need to fulfill the plan and purpose that You have ordained for me. Grant me this request, I pray, amen.
