Persuasive Partnership

July 12, 2025

By Andrew Williams

And some of them [Jews in Thessalonica] were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a great many of the devout Greeks and not a few of the leading women.” – Acts 17:4 (ESV)

Good morning fellow disciples.

Acts 17:4 describes the positive response to Paul and Silas’ preaching in the synagogue in Thessalonica. The verse highlights the diversity of those who were persuaded by their message: “some of them” (Jews), “a great many of the devout Greeks,” and “not a few of the leading women.” This underscores the power of the Gospel to transcend cultural and social barriers and to attract people from all walks of life. Silas’ dedication also showcases his importance in supporting Paul.

As a disciple, you are called to share the Gospel with all people, regardless of their background, their ethnicity, or their social status. Silas’ example reminds you that the Gospel is for everyone and that you have the power to reach people from all walks of life with the message of hope, grace, and love.

This week, intentionally reach out to someone who is different from you – someone who comes from a different background, culture, or social class. Engage in conversation with them, listen to their story, and look for opportunities to share your faith in a way that is both respectful and authentic.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to see all people as you see them, and to reach out to those who are different from me. Give me the wisdom and the courage to share the Gospel in a way that is both respectful and authentic. May my life be a reflection of Your love, Your grace, and Your desire for all people to come to know You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
