Opening Prayer:
Jesus, our Victorious King, we praise you. Thank you that in you, we face already-defeated foes. Fill us with the confidence that comes from your finished work.
Today’s Scripture: Colossians 2:15(NLT)
“In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.”
John 16:33b (NLT):”But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
Galatians 5:24(NLT): “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.”
We have spent this entire week identifying the three fronts of our spiritual war: the devil, the world, and the flesh. It’s a formidable lineup. But we end this week with the most important truth of all: Jesus is victorious over every single one of them. Our hope is not in our ability to fight, but in His finished work.
Consider the victory. Over the devil and his forces? Colossians tells us Jesus “disarmed” them and “shamed them publicly” at the cross. The enemy has no ultimate authority over a child of God. Over the world system? Jesus declared with confidence, “I have overcome the world.” The world’s pressures and values have no ultimate hold on us.
And what about that most difficult, internal enemy, the flesh? Galatians gives us this incredible truth: when we belong to Christ, our sinful nature has already been “nailed… to his cross.” Its power has been broken. We are no longer slaves to its desires. We are fighting against already-defeated foes. The war has been won. Our job is to walk in the reality of that victory.
Disciple’s Life Tip:
Which of the three fronts feels most threatening to you right now? Find the corresponding verse from today’s scripture and make it your declaration for the day. Speak Christ’s victory over that specific area of struggle.
Closing Encouragement:
Let us go forward not in fear of the fight, but in faith in our Victor. The devil is disarmed, the world is overcome, and the flesh is crucified. Live in the freedom of Christ’s overwhelming victory. Amen.
