Opposition in The Church

By Andrew Williams

3 John 1:9 – I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves to be first among them, does not accept what we say.

Good morning fellow disciples.

Ponder this question: “Is there anyone in the church that you attend who opposes the WORD of God or the work of the Lord?

I am sure that you can think of at least one person who fits that description. There are people who attend church, who are not truly following the Lord and living obedient to everything that He says.

These people tend to cause division or strife within the body of Christ. They tend to be proud and think of themselves more highly than they ought. They believe that their way is right and no one else should oppose them.

When they are allowed to make decisions or to influence others, they cause division within the Church. What was John’s advice to the church?

‘Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.’ 3 John 1:11

My fellow disciples, let us not be influenced by people who caused divisions and lead opposition within the Church. Let us do only good!

Prayer: Lord, help us to know Your Word and to do the good works that You require. Amen.
