My Purpose – Raise the Dead

By Andrew Williams – September 15, 2021

Good morning fellow disciples.
This week we will be looking at the theme, God’s Purpose for My Life.

Purpose is defined as “the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.” We were created by Almighty God In His image for His purpose. The question we will be asking this week is, “What is God’s purpose for my life?”

Raise the dead! One of the reasons that I am a disciple of Christ is to raise the dead?! Well, we know that a disciple learns, patterns, and emulates his master’s lifestyle. If Jesus did it, so should we.

Jesus our master said the following:
“I assure you: The one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. John 14:12‭-‬14 HCSB

We know that Jesus raised the dead. He also commissioned his disciples to do the same. Even Paul, who persecuted his disciples raised the dead after he repented of his sins and became a disciple also. These three passages testify to the master and the disciples’ shared purpose of raising the dead.

Jesus replied to them, “Go and report to John what you hear and see: the blind see, the lame walk, those with skin diseases are healed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor are told the good news.
Matthew 11:4‭-‬5 HCSB

Jesus sent out these 12 after giving them instructions: “Don’t take the road leading to other nations, and don’t enter any Samaritan town. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with skin diseases, drive out demons. You have received free of charge; give free of charge.
Matthew 10:5‭, ‬8 HCSB

‘and a young man named Eutychus was sitting on a window sill and sank into a deep sleep as Paul kept on speaking. When he was overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was picked up dead. But Paul went down, fell on him, embraced him, and said, “Don’t be alarmed, for his life is in him! ” They brought the boy home alive and were greatly comforted.’
Acts 20:9‭-‬10‭, ‬12 HCSB

Do you believe that Jesus raised the dead? Do you believe that it is Jesus’ will that you raise the dead? Have you ever raised the dead?

Prayer: Lord Jesus You said that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed we can command the mountain to move and it will get up and go. Lord, I have the faith. My faith may be small but it is big enough to cause the dead to be raised if I only but command them to. Lord Jesus make me bold so that I will step out in my little faith and command dead bodies to come to life, amen.
