Good morning fellow disciples.
This week we will be looking at the theme, God’s Purpose for My Life.
Purpose is defined as “the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.” We were created by Almighty God In His image for His purpose. The question we will be asking this week is, “What is God’s purpose for my life?”
Yesterday we saw that one of the purposes of the life of a disciple is to preach the gospel of the kingdom of God. Today we will look at another purpose that is common to all disciples of Christ. We are all supposed to be healing the sick. This is not something that you have to be anointed to do. This is not a calling of only special disciples. It is something that all disciples can and should be doing. Let us look at the scriptures that show this.
Summoning His 12 disciples, He gave them authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out and to heal every disease and sickness. Matthew 10:1 HCSB
Then He sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. Luke 9:2 HCSB
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with skin diseases, drive out demons. You have received free of charge; give free of charge. Matthew 10:8 HCSB
Heal the sick who are there, and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near you.’ Luke 10:9 HCSB
And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; they will pick up snakes; if they should drink anything deadly, it will never harm them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.”
Mark 16:17-18 HCSB
In all these verses we see Jesus instructing His disciples to heal the sick. We stated yesterday that as long as you are a disciple you should be doing everything that Jesus commanded His disciples to do. We clearly see that to heal the sick is something that Jesus commanded.
In Mark 16:17-18, we clearly see that Jesus says that ANYONE WHO BELIEVES AND IS BAPTIZED can lay hands on the sick and they will get better. Do you believe in Jesus? Are you baptized? Have you been laying hands on the sick and praying for them and seeing them get healed?
If not, then today you have been enlightened. Jesus says that you can and should heal the sick! Will you step out in faith and believe His word? Let us all go out and pray for the sick and lay hands on them so that they can be healed.
Prayer: Father God You said that when we preach the gospel that You would give the accompanying signs and wonders. Father God yesterday we learned that we are supposed to preach the gospel, today we learned that all believers can heal those who are sick.
Father God, I believe in Jesus’ word, I will obey His commandment, and as I exercise my faith in Him I expect that each and everyone that I pray for and lay hands on will be healed. This I know in Jesus’ name amen.
