“But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw.” – Acts 8:12-13 (NIV)
Good morning fellow disciples.
Acts 8:12-13 highlights the successful impact of Philip’s ministry in Samaria. The verse emphasizes that people “believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ.” As a result of their belief, both men and women were baptized. Even Simon the sorcerer, who had previously amazed the people of Samaria with his magic, “believed and was baptized” and “followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw.” This passage underscores the transformative power of the Gospel and the effectiveness of Philip’s ministry in winning people to Christ.
As a disciple, you are called to share the Gospel with others and to trust that God will work through you to transform lives. Philip’s example reminds you that the Gospel is powerful enough to break through any barrier, to overcome any opposition, and to change any heart. You are empowered to be a witness to Christ’s love and grace, trusting that the Holy Spirit will work through your words and actions to bring people to faith.
This week, be bold in sharing your faith with others and trust that God will use your witness to touch their hearts. Pray for opportunities to speak about Jesus and for the Holy Spirit to empower your words and actions. Remember that even a simple act of kindness or a word of encouragement can plant a seed of faith that can grow into a life-changing encounter with Christ.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me the boldness to share my faith with others and the trust to believe that You will work through me to transform lives. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, so that my words and actions may be a reflection of Your love, Your grace, and Your truth. Use me to be a witness to Your power and may I lead others to discover the joy of knowing You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
