Mercy Leads to Confession

By Andrew Williams

Then Saul confessed, “I have sinned. Come back home, my son, and I will no longer try to harm you, for you valued my life today. I have been a fool and very, very wrong.”
1 Samuel 26:21 NLT
Mercy Leads to Confession

Good morning fellow disciples.

Confess: to unburden one’s sins or the state of one’s conscience to God or to a priest.

Have you been living your life in such a way that you know that the things that you do consistently are sinful?

Have you had a relationship with God and then you decided to turn your back against Him?

The way you live is totally sinful to God and to others. You have hurt God! You have hurt others! You have hurt yourself!

You don’t feel worthy of having a relationship with God or with others. But then the person that you have hurt the most comes to you and say, “I forgive you”. The God that you have been sinning against shows you mercy and tells you that He loves you.

What do you do? How do you respond?

For many of us, we only confess when we are broken by the mercy that others show to us. In those moments of being shown favor when we truly don’t deserve it, we realize that we need to confess our sins.
We realize that unburdening our conscience before God and others will truly set us free. And when we do, God puts us in right standing with Himself and with others.

Have you received mercy from God or others? In response, confess your sins and be set free!

Is there someone who is sinning against you or has sinned against you? Show them mercy! Show them mercy so that they can recognize their sin, confess, and to be set free by unburdening their conscience!

Prayer: Thank You Lord for showing me mercy. Without it, I would never have confessed my sins. Thank you for setting me free from the burdens of sin.

I now choose to show mercy to those who have wronged me. Help them to respond with confession so that they can receive their salvation, deliverance, and healing. Amen.
