Scripture: “to Apphia our sister, to Archippus our fellow soldier, and to the church that meets in your home”. Philemon 1:2 HCSB
Observation: Jesus said that wherever two or three are gathered in His name He will be in the midst of them. We are the church (His body), and we can meet anywhere. The church Paul addressed in the letter to Philemon was a “home church”.
This encourages me that the home church is a great place to worship, because even the great apostle Paul worshiped in a “home church”. In this covid-19 pandemic we should be striving to worship in our small groups. It may just be you and your family members, or it may be an online meeting, or a group phone call, but together with God’s Spirit you are His church. Whatever format it is, just fellowship with one another.
Is there a “church that meets in your home”? If not, why not start one today?
Application: No matter how accomplished I become, I will worship anywhere the “church” meets.
I will use my home as a place where the church meets; whether it is physically with family members or virtually with others. Together we will fellowship with God, disciple each other, and worship God.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I am a part of your body. Help me to not limit myself to fellowshipping with others in the community church. Let me see the home church as a place to truly be a part of your body. I surrender my home to be a place of worship ,(physically and virtually), that You and I can fellowship with others. I pledge to do this in Jesus’ Name, amen.
Love this! We are the church
This is very relevant in these times.
Amen. We certainly must not limited fellowship to the physical sanctuary, virual or with fellow born again Christians but fellowship within our homes with our family members.
