Meditate on God’s Discipline

By Andrew Williams

“But consider the joy of those corrected by God! Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin.
Job 5:17 NLT

Good morning fellow disciples.

Meditate on God’s discipline!

Discipline is defined as:
1. training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character, or
2. the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct.

God wants to train and mold us to be like His Son Jesus Christ. He wants to perfect our character. Isn’t it wonderful how God chose to discipline us by making us disciples of His Son?

As we examine the lives of the disciples mentioned in the bible, we realize that they were trained and molded by Jesus. When they faltered, they were rebuked and corrected.

When they received discipline and humbled themselves, they became joyous because their fellowship with God was enhanced, and they became more like Jesus in character.

Think about how God has been disciplining and correcting you when you sin. As you have submitted to God in these situations, has your joy returned or been increased?

Prayer: Discipline me Lord! I need it. I receive it with joy, because I know that I will become more like Your son. Amen.
