Meditate in God’s Temple

By Andrew Williams

The one thing I ask of the Lord— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple.
Psalms 27:4 NLT

Good morning fellow disciples.

Meditate is defined as to focus one’s thoughts on, to reflect on, or ponder over.

The one thing I ask of the Lord, the one thing I seek most? If I go on to say that it “is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple”,

Then I would be lying!

1 Corinthians 6:19‭-‬20 NLT states: “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”

My body is the temple of God. His Holy Spirit lives in my body. My spirit is also in this body, but my meditation most times is not on God.

I am ashamed! I take God’s Holy Spirit for granted, I defile His temple, and I do not spend my time focused on delighting in God’s perfections.

How about you: are you living according to Psalms 27:4?

Prayer: Holy Spirit, forgive me for defiling your temple. Forgive me for the thoughts that I entertain in this body. I repent Lord!

Starting now, I will: live in this body (Your temple) all the days of my life, delighting in Your perfections and meditating on You and Your WORD. Amen.
