“Love does no wrong to a neighbor. Love, therefore, is the fulfillment of the law.” Romans 13:10 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
When you love someone, you will not do anything that will harm them, wrong them, or put them at a disadvantage. As followers of Christ we are commanded to love one another, just as Christ loved us. We are to esteem others more highly than we do ourselves. We are to give our lives for others.
Sometimes we do things that harm others with the excuse that it’s because we love them that we do so. We call this tough love. But what does God’s Word say.
Do not owe anyone anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. The commandments: Do not commit adultery; do not murder; do not steal; do not covet; and whatever other commandment — all are summed up by this: Love your neighbor as yourself. Romans 13:8-9 HCSB
Are we fulfilling every commandment of God? Sometimes we get caught up fulfilling the letter of the law and forget what the true purpose is. Maybe the proper question to ask is: “Do you love your neighbor as you love yourself?” The next question is: “Do you truly love yourself?”
When we love we fulfill God’s laws ,and at the same time we do what is best for our neighbors. Let us live lives exemplified by love because this is what pleases God and what blesses others.
Prayer: Father God I want to do what’s right for My neighbor, myself and for You. The only way to do this is to love, truly love. Fill me with Your love and teach me how to live a life of love so that I will never wrong my neighbor. This I ask ,in Jesus’ Name, amen.
