Proverbs 5:1-2 NLT- My son, pay attention to my wisdom; listen carefully to my wise counsel. [2] Then you will show discernment, and your lips will express what you’ve learned.
Good morning, fellow disciples.
Do you want to be wise and discerning?
These two verses were written by Solomon, one of the wisest men to have ever lived. He received his wisdom from God when he prayed for it. He is now imparting wisdom and knowledge to his Son and to us.
Listen: to hear something with thoughtful attention.
Wisdom: ability to discern inner qualities and relationships.
Discernment: the quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure.
Proverbs 5:1-2 gives us the template to be discerning:
1. Pay attention to the wisdom of the wise,
2. Listen carefully to wise counsel,
3. Then you will show discernment, and
4. Share what you have learnt.
Have you been doing that?
Prayer: Father God, wisdom comes from You. I will pay attention to Your wisdom and listen carefully to wise counsel so that I will be able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure.
Help me to become wise and discerning so that I also may offer wise counsel to others. As they listen, make them wise and discerning also. Amen.
