Listen

By Andrew Williams

Good morning, fellow disciples.

Our posture in prayer for the last ten months has been praise, waiting on God, confession, reading the WORD, petitioning God, interceding for others, praying the WORD, thanksgiving, singing, and meditating on God’s WORD.
This month we will spend time merging all of those and listening to God as He speaks to us. We will look at passages in the Bible that show how persons listened, and how God showed up in their lives when they obeyed Him.

Listen is defined as: 1. to pay attention to sound, 2. To hear something with thoughtful attention, give consideration, or 3. to be alert to catch an expected sound.

What has God been saying to you these past 10 months?

As we spend time listening to God this month, my prayer is that He will speak to us clearly and that as we listen, we will come into closer and deeper relationship with Him.

Listen to what God says to us in James 1:22-25 NLT.
“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.”

Pay attention to God’s WORD!

Be alert to hear what God is saying to you! And,

Give thoughtful attention to what you have heard!

Prayer: God, we enjoy speaking to You! We love fellowshipping with You. As we change our posture to that of listening to You, we ask You to speak to us clearly. Speak to us through Your written WORD, Your Holy Spirit, our pastors and teachers, and our fellow disciples.

We commit to listen to Your WORD, pay attention to it and give thoughtful consideration to everything that You say to us. Once more we confess our sins, repent, surrender, and submit to You as we expectantly wait to hear Your voice. Amen.
