Lessons From James’ and John’s Conversation with Jesus Part 4

By Andrew Williams – July 12, 2022

For even the Son of Man came not to have service rendered to Him, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for (instead of) many.
Mark 10:45 AMPC

Good morning fellow disciples.

Lesson 5: It is when we have open, honest conversations with others that we truly begin to understand who they are and what their purpose in our lives are.

Many of us have preconceived ideas of who others are to us. Some see me as their pastor, some see me as their doctor, some see me as their friend, a brother, an uncle, a confidant, a prayer partner, their worst enemy, their future life partner, an ATM, and the list goes on. But not many take the time to have honest, open, transparent conversations with me so the can really find out who I am and my true purpose for being a part of their lives.

Do you approach God with preconceived ideas?

Do you try to fit Him into your idea of who He should be to you?

Are you afraid to have the difficult conversations with Him, the conversations that show that you are vulnerable?

Are you willing to Hear Him when He totally demolishes the preconceived ideas that you have about Him?

Are you truly willing to learn about God, His Kingdom, and His plans and purposes for you?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I still don’t understand You fully. I’m still searching, I’m still asking the questions, and I’m still knocking on the doors. I want to know You fully, and to understand Your plan and purpose for me in this, Your kingdom.

There’s still so much to unpack from the statement that You made Lord Jesus: “For even the Son of Man came not to have service rendered to Him, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for (instead of) many.”

I will continue to have the open, honest conversations with You so that I can understand who You are, what Your Kingdom requires, and my purpose in it. Amen

  1. Having daily conversations with Jesus opens the door to a deeper knowledge of who he is and how we can make him known to others.
What a mighty God we serve!
