Scripture : “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11: 28-30 KJV
Insight : In this passage Jesus makes an invitation to all who labour and are heavy laden to come unto him. Truth is we all as human beings labour and are heavy laden. The burden of sin is great and great to bear. But Jesus provides an escape through himself.
The rest that is found in Jesus Christ is like no other. This invitation is not a one time offer but to every man who has become caught up with sin and has become burdened. Jesus’ hands are continually outstretched to receive you and remove that burden and give you rest.
Are you burdened? Heavy laden? Does it seem like you are carrying a weight that is too much to bear? Accept Jesus’ offer and come unto him where you will find rest, for as the scripture says his yoke is easy and his burden is light.
Prayer : Father God I am burdened and heavy laden by sin and the cares of this world. I am carrying a weight that is too heavy for me. Today God I want to exchange that weight for the rest found only in your son Jesus Christ. I surrender my life to You, I submit to Your will and I turn from my sin. I take up Your yolk and I now receive your rest, Lord Jesus, amen.
