Jesus – Filled with the Joy of the Holy Spirit

By Andrew Williams

Luke 10:21 NLTAt that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.

Good morning fellow disciples.

Do you want to fill Jesus with the joy of the Holy Spirit?

You might be thinking, “How can I do that?”

In Luke 10:21 we see that Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit. This happened when the seventy-two disciples returned from preaching in the villages and reported to Jesus how even the demons were obedient to them when they used Jesus’ name.  Jesus went on to say:

Luke 10:18 “Yes,” he told them, “I saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning! 19Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you. 20But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven.”

Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit because His disciples, with childlike faith, had obeyed Him. They went and preached the gospel of the kingdom, healed the sick, and cast out demons based on His commands to them.

You too are commanded and authorized by Jesus to preach the gospel, make disciples, heal the sick, and cast out demons.

Are you doing that?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I want to fill You with the joy of the Holy Spirit. I will obey all Your commands, act in the authority that You have given me, and in the power of Your Holy Spirit! Amen.
