Jesus’ Conversation With A Tree Part 4

By Andrew Williams – July 16,2022

And seeing in the distance a fig tree [covered] with leaves, He went to see if He could find any [fruit] on it [for in the fig tree the fruit appears at the same time as the leaves]. But when He came up to it, He found nothing but leaves, for the fig season had not yet come. And He said to it, No one ever again shall eat fruit from you. And His disciples were listening [to what He said].
Mark 11:13‭-‬14 AMPC

Good morning fellow disciples.

We need to listen to what Jesus says!

His disciples heard Jesus curse the fig tree. I wonder, did the understand why? Did they think that Jesus was just being petty? Did they think that He was being too severe? Or, did they think it was just careless words?

After all, didn’t Jesus feed the five thousand from one meal? Couldn’t He speak to the fig tree and it would miraculously bear fruit?

Once again, we see that everything in Jesus’ life is something that His disciples can learn from. Jesus spoke loud enough and in the presence of His disciples so that they all heard Him. At this time they really didn’t understand the significance of this encounter.

How long have you been walking with the Lord, listening to His words, observing His lifestyle and, doing His will but you really don’t understand Him?

Be like these disciples and observe and hear Jesus’ words. You may not understand what is happening but, in time the revelation will come.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for opening up Your life to us. Thank You for teaching us through parables, healings, miracles, conversations, debates and your method of discipleship. We are grateful for what is preserved in scripture. Thank You!

Sometimes we don’t understand what is written but we look to Your Holy Spirit to give us the knowledge and understanding that we need. We will continue to read your Word and seek You as we wait to understand what You are teaching us, amen.

  1. It is said that life is live forward but understood.
As we continue our walk with Jesus, the message of the gospel is made clearer as we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us.
