James’ and John’s Conversation with Jesus Part 6

And they replied to Him, “We are able.” Jesus told them, “The cup that I drink you will drink, and you will be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized. But to sit on My right or left, this is not Mine to give; but it is for those for whom it has been prepared [by My Father].”
Mark 10:39‭-‬40 AMP

Good morning fellow disciples.

The request: “Grant that we may sit [with You], one on Your right and one on Your left, in Your glory [Your majesty and splendor in Your kingdom].”

The answer: “But to sit on My right or left, this is not Mine to give; but it is for those for whom it has been prepared [by My Father].”

Have you ever had an important question or request, but you went to the wrong person with them?

Sometimes this is the place that we find ourselves in, but the persons that we go to are able to guide us so that we regain our focus. This was what Jesus did.

At the same time, He let them know that God the Father was the only one who made certain Kingdom decisions.

God the Father. God the Son. God the Holy Spirit.

Are you petitioning the correct one for your needs? Many of us keep on asking Jesus for things we should be asking Father God for.

Note the words of Jesus: In that day you will not ask Me anything. “I assure you: Anything you ask the Father in My name, He will give you. Until now you have asked for nothing in My name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.
John 16:23‭-‬24 HCSB

Prayer: Father God, we thank You for this conversation between Jesus and, James and John. We have learned about boldness, about redirecting our focus to You and Your Kingdom, and about Your Authority.

We thank You for always listening to us! We thank You for Your corrective words. We thank You for preparing places for us in Your Kingdom.

We thank You for Your Holy Spirit who is our teacher and comforter. We thank You for conversations like this that reveals Your Kingdom plan to us. We thank You for our fellow disciples who can redirect our focus when needed.

Continue teaching us and revealing Yourself to us as we continue conversing with You. I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
