And they replied to Him, “We are able.” Jesus told them, “The cup that I drink you will drink, and you will be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized. But to sit on My right or left, this is not Mine to give; but it is for those for whom it has been prepared [by My Father].”

Good morning fellow disciples.
Typical Jesus! You ask Him a question and He does not give you a definitive answer.
What He does do, however, is to guide you to where you need to be. In this case it was to show them that as His disciples they would share in His sufferings. They were already preaching, healing the sick and, casting out demons. They were doing the good stuff!
But being Jesus’ disciples meant that they would share in all that He experienced. Suffering and death by the hands of persecutors was a part of Jesus’ future, so they should expect it to be a part of theirs.
Jesus basically told them that their focus was off target and that they needed to redirect their focus to God and His plan.
My fellow disciples, where is your focus?
Are you focused on what you or the world wants, or are you focused on what God wants?
As you continue your conversations with God, redirect your focus unto God and where God directs you!
