And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.
John 14:16 NLT
Good morning fellow disciples.
Jesus did not want us to be left alone when He departed this world. He was full of the Holy Spirit, and His disciples had spent the past three years experiencing the presence and power of the Holy Spirit through Jesus.
Jesus knew that for them to be effective disciples they would need the person of the Holy Spirit to be with them. So Jesus intervened on His disciples behalf for Father God to send the Holy Spirit to be with them.
Intercede: to mediate; or to intervene on behalf of another.
Disciples also interceded on each other’s behalf to receive God’s Holy Spirit. Here are two examples:
As soon as they arrived, they prayed for these new believers to receive the Holy Spirit.
Acts of the Apostles 8:15 NLT
As soon as they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied.
Acts of the Apostles 19:5-6 NLT
Have you been interceding/praying for fellow disciples to receive the Advocate/Holy Spirit?
Do it for your fellow disciples today!
Prayer: Father God, for every fellow disciple reading or listening to this devotional, I ask You to baptize them with Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
