Intercede for Sinful Disciples

By Andrew Williams

But Peter replied, “May your money be destroyed with you for thinking God’s gift can be bought! You can have no part in this, for your heart is not right with God. Repent of your wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive your evil thoughts, for I can see that you are full of bitter jealousy and are held captive by sin.”
Acts of the Apostles 8:20‭-‬23 NLT

Good morning fellow disciples.

Do you know disciples who are ignorant of the things of the Kingdom of God?

Have they tried to purchase or sell the things of the Kingdom that are free?

Have they been envious or jealous of other disciples?

Even though they profess to be disciples of Christ, and have confessed Jesus as their Lord, are they still held captive by sin?

Finally, are you one of these sinful disciples?

Intercede: to intervene between parties with a view to reconciling differences; to mediate; to plead on someone else’s behalf; or to intervene on behalf of another.

Simon had sought to buy the gift of the Holy Spirit. Peter had rebuked him. Here’s Simon’s response:

“Pray to the Lord for me,” Simon exclaimed, “that these terrible things you’ve said won’t happen to me!”
Acts of the Apostles 8:24 NLT

Will you intercede for your ignorant and sinful disciples?

Prayer: Father God, through Jesus Christ our Lord, forgive us of our ignorance and sin. Give us knowledge and understanding of You and Your Kingdom!

Show us where we are sinning!

We confess! We repent!

We now ask You to save, deliver, and heal our fellow sinful disciples. Amen.
