Intercede For Loved Ones

By Andrew Williams – December 16, 2021

INTERCEDE FOR LOVED ONES

Then he cried out to the Lord and said, “My Lord God, have You also brought tragedy on the widow I am staying with by killing her son? ” Then he stretched himself out over the boy three times. He cried out to the Lord and said, “My Lord God, please let this boy’s life return to him! ”
1 Kings 17:20‭-‬21 HCSB

Good morning fellow disciples.

When you intercede for your loved ones what response do you usually get from God? Do you see miracles, signs and wonders happening in their lives? Is there salvation, healing, or deliverance?

In this passage we see Elijah interceding on behalf of the woman who had given him a room. He intercedes on behalf of the woman who he had prayed for and then she had a son. Elijah spent time with them every time he was passing that area, so he grew to know and love this family and to love this boy.

So when the woman came and said to him that the child had died and he had gone and seen, he cried out with a loud voice to the Lord and interceded on her behalf for the life of her child. In your family, is there a son, a brother, a daughter, a sister, a wife, a husband, a grandparent or a grandchild who is in need of salvation?

Have you been praying for them? Have you been interceding on their behalf to God? Has God answered your prayer as yet? Is there someone in need of healing or deliverance? Have you been interceding on their behalf to God? Has God answered as yet?

I’m going to say something now based on the next verse that we will read. Has your prayers been unanswered because you are not a man or woman of God? Has your prayers been unanswered because your relationship with God is not what it should be?

In the next verse we see that the woman says to Elijah : “Now, I know that you are a prophet of God, a man of God.” It’s funny she says this after the man prayed for her to have a child and she had a child. But knowing that the child died and he came back to life, she says now, I know that you are a man of God.

Do people see you as a man or a woman of God? If so, why? If not, why? Today I implore you to intercede on the behalf of your loved ones. Today I implore you to make your life right with God so that your intercession on behalf of your loved ones will be successful. God wants us to be faithful witnesses for him, so let us be faithful to Him first, and then witness to others.

Pray according to the need. This was Elijah’s prayer.

Prayer : My Lord God, have You also brought tragedy on the widow I am staying with by killing her son. My Lord God, please let this boy’s life return to him! Amen

The outcome of Elijah’s prayer:
So the Lord listened to Elijah’s voice, and the boy’s life returned to him, and he lived. Then Elijah took the boy, brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to his mother. Elijah said, “Look, your son is alive.” Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know you are a man of God and the Lord’s word from your mouth is true.”
