Galatians 3:2 NLT – Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ.
Good morning fellow disciples.
The only way to receive God’s Holy Spirit is to believe the good news about Jesus Christ.
You do NOT receive Him by:
- Obeying the law of Moses/ Old Covenant,
- Being baptized in water,
- Going to church regularly,
- Pledging allegiance to a religious organization,
- By being good, or
- Even being baptized in Jesus’ name. (Acts 8:16 -The Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
In every case we have looked at we see that only believers in Jesus Christ were filled with the Holy Spirit. Some were filled without asking, some were filled after they asked, some when they were prayed for, and some after or before they were baptized in water.
How did you receive the Holy Spirit?
- Did you receive Him when you believed on Jesus?
- Did you ask God for Him after you believed?
- Did someone pray to God asking Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit?
Or are you still waiting to be filled/baptized with the Holy Spirit?
Prayer: Father God, we thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Jesus says that if we ask You, You will give us Your Holy Spirit. So now, I ask You to fill every believer reading or listening to this devotional with Your Spirit. Amen.
