Romans 8:17 (NLT): “Since we are his children, we are his heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”
Good morning fellow disciples.
Let us turn our hearts and minds today to a truth that is both exhilarating and humbling: our inheritance as children of God.
This verse doesn’t speak of a meager inheritance, a small token of appreciation. It speaks of a boundless inheritance, an immeasurable treasure beyond human comprehension. We are not merely recipients of God’s grace; we are heirs to His kingdom, co-heirs with Christ Himself! This isn’t a future possibility; it’s our present reality, a truth that shapes our identity and empowers our lives.
Consider the magnitude of this inheritance. It encompasses everything God is and everything He possesses: His boundless love, His unwavering protection, His infinite wisdom, His eternal glory. It includes the joy of fellowship with Him, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the promise of eternal life in His presence. It’s an inheritance that surpasses all earthly riches, all worldly possessions, all human ambition.
Think about the implications of this truth. When faced with challenges and difficulties, when confronted with suffering and adversity, remember your inheritance. Remember that you are a child of the King, an heir to His kingdom. This knowledge will infuse you with strength, resilience, and unwavering hope. It will empower you to endure hardship, to overcome obstacles, and to persevere in faith, knowing that your ultimate reward far surpasses any temporary suffering.
Our task, then, is to live in a manner worthy of our inheritance. To cultivate a heart of gratitude, recognizing the immeasurable value of our position in Christ. To live lives of purpose and meaning, reflecting the glory of God in all we do. Today, I challenge you to actively embrace your inheritance. Spend time in prayer, thanking God for His boundless love and the incredible gift of eternal life. Seek opportunities to share this hope with others, bringing the light of the Gospel to a world shrouded in darkness.
Prayer: Gracious Father, we thank You for the incredible inheritance we have as Your children, co-heirs with Christ. We thank You for Your boundless love, Your unwavering protection, and the promise of eternal life in Your presence. Help us to live in a manner worthy of this high calling, reflecting Your glory in all we do. Empower us to share this hope with others, bringing the light of the Gospel to a world in desperate need of Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
