Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. Colossians 3:2 NLT
Good morning fellow disciples.
Why should you think about the things of heaven? Why shouldn’t you think about earthly things?
When we look at the verse in context, we realize that Paul is speaking to persons who are disciples of Christ. They have accepted him as Lord and Savior, and now they are a part of the Kingdom of God that is based in heaven.
The earthly life is one that is corrupt, while the heavenly life is one that is pure. If you are a disciple of Christ, you are born of the Spirit. You are a new creation! You died to the earthly life, and you are now alive in Christ. Think about heavenly things because you are a kingdom citizen!
Let us meditate on Paul’s words in Colossians 3:1-4, “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.”
Prayer: God, help me to live in my new reality as a Kingdom citizen. I no longer belong to this world, and I will not live according to its ungodly precepts. I live in this world as Your son, and I will be Your committed ambassador living like Je sus patterned. Amen
Amen
