They made their hearts as hard as stone, so they could not hear the instructions or the messages that the LORD of Heaven’s Armies had sent them by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. That is why the LORD of Heaven’s Armies was so angry with them. Zechariah 7:12 NLT
Good morning fellow disciples.
Are you able to hear God’s instructions? Can you hear God through His written Word, through those who speak God’s Word, or God’s Holy Spirit?
If your answer is no, you have a hardened heart!
A hardened heart is one that cannot hear the instructions or messages of God. People choose to harden their hearts by choosing not to listen to what God is or has been saying. Here what God said about His chosen people:
“Your ancestors refused to listen to this message. They stubbornly turned away and put their fingers in their ears to keep from hearing. They made their hearts as hard as stone, so they could not hear the instructions or the messages that the Lord of Heaven’s Armies had sent them by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. That is why the Lord of Heaven’s Armies was so angry with them. “Since they refused to listen when I called to them, I would not listen when they called to me, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. ZECHARIAH 7:11-13
There are consequences to hardening our hearts to God’s voice. In ZECHARIAH 7:13 we see that God refused to listen to the people who chose not to listen to Him.
Is God not listening or responding to you?
Examine your heart: is it hardened?
Prayer: Lord, I repent! I return to You. I am listening to You. I will read Your Word, listen to Your ‘prophets’, and Your Holy Spirit. I will wholeheartedly obey You. Amen.
