Genesis 6:3 HCSB – And the Lord said, “My Spirit will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt. Their days will be 120 years.”
Good morning fellow disciples.
God told Adam that the day that they sinned, they would be separated from God. In other words, they would die. We know that God removed Adam and Eve from the garden that He had created for them when they sinned. They went on to live for many hundreds of years. However, their descendants became even more corrupt, and at a later point in time, God made this proclamation.
“My Spirit will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt. Their days will be 120 years.”
Even though God had removed them from the Garden of Eden, His life given breath or spirit was still within them. Because of man’s corruption, God could not spend eternity with them. He limited their lifespan.
God made a new covenant with us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Because of this covenant, God has sent His Holy Spirit to live within those of us who accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We can now be united with God in the way that He wanted from the beginning.

Prayer: Father God, we know that Your Spirit cannot live within corrupt people forever. We thank You for redeeming us. Thank You for placing Your Spirit within us once again so that we can live forever with You. Amen.
