Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord. He went to the high priest and requested letters from him to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any men or women who belonged to the Way, he might bring them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he traveled and was nearing Damascus, a light from heaven suddenly flashed around him. Falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? ” “Who are You, Lord? ” he said. “I am Jesus, the One you are persecuting,” He replied. “But get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
Acts 9:1-6 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
Do you know your purpose? Do you know what God wants you to do?
Have you had an encounter with God but you still don’t know the exact call on your life? Don’t despair! The apostle Paul had an encounter with God on the Damascus road when his name was still Saul. This encounter was life-changing and Saul knew that he was called by God, but he did not know the exact calling.
He was told by the Lord Jesus Christ to go into the city and then he would be told what he was must do.
Sometimes we have to wait on God to reveal His plan for our lives to us. Sometimes God places us in positions where we will humbly wait on Him to speak to us. Sometimes God speaks to us through other disciples.
Like Saul, have you been fighting against God?
Like Saul, have you had a life-changing encounter with God? Like Saul, are you waiting on God to give you further instructions?
Like Saul, humble yourself and spend your time in fasting and prayer until God gives you the further instruction that you need. God WILL tell you what you MUST do!
Prayer: Father God, I thank You for the life of Saul. I thank You for showing us through his transitions that we also are capable of being effective witnesses for You. No matter where we are in our lives You are working on our behalf.
Through his life story we know that we are capable of changing to become the persons that You want us to be. Help us to be accepting of how You choose to speak to us and how You prepare us for our lives of ministry. Amen
