When they had eaten breakfast, Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these? ” “Yes, Lord,” he said to Him, “You know that I love You.” “Feed My lambs,” He told him. A second time He asked him, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me? ” “Yes, Lord,” he said to Him, “You know that I love You.” “Shepherd My sheep,” He told him. He asked him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me? ” Peter was grieved that He asked him the third time, “Do you love Me? ” He said, “Lord, You know everything! You know that I love You.” “Feed My sheep,” Jesus said.
John 21:15-17 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
Do you love God? Are you willing to follow His instructions?
God’s instructions to Peter were: “Feed My lambs, Shepherd My sheep, and Feed My sheep”. Peter declared his love for the Lord Jesus Christ, and Jesus gave him instructions to take care of His sheep.
Jesus said that the first and second commandments were to ‘love God and to love your neighbor as yourself’. As a disciple of Christ who truly loves God you will obey His instructions.
Have you been called and instructed by God to take care of His church? Have You been instructed to take care of your brothers and sisters?
Do you show your love for God by showing that you love your fellow disciple?
Prayer: Father God I know that You love me. I love You God and I will do as You instruct. My purpose here on earth is to serve You and to love my brothers and sisters. I will show this love by preaching Your gospel, healing the sick, and freeing those who are held captive by the devil.
I will take care of Your sheep! I will protect Your sheep! I will feed Your sheep! Amen.
