When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called out to him from the bush, “Moses, Moses! ” “Here I am,” he answered. “Do not come closer,” He said. “Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” Then He continued, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at God. Then the Lord said, “I have observed the misery of My people in Egypt, and have heard them crying out because of their oppressors, and I know about their sufferings. The Israelites’ cry for help has come to Me, and I have also seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. Therefore, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh so that you may lead My people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.”
Exodus 3:4-7, 9-10 HCSB
Good morning fellow disciples.
Have you been called by God to lead people?
Have you been sent by God to help deliver persons from captivity?
When God called you, did He lead you from your place of comfort to one where you will be fighting against powerful persons?
In this passage we see God calling Moses to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt. This is because God has heard their cries for help and is now putting in place a plan to save them. He chose Moses because He knew that Moses was the best person suited for that job.
Sometimes when God instructs us to do something our first response is:
> Why me?
> Are you sure I’m the person for the job?, or
> God, can’t you find someone else?
From the passage above, we see that God told Moses exactly who He was. It wasn’t about Moses being the deliverer, it was about God delivering His people. As we look forward to obeying God’s instructions for us to lead others, let us realize that it is God who will make our action successful.
Let us not limit God by what we think we are capable of doing. Let us step out boldly in the power and authority that God gives us!
Prayer: Father God, thank You for calling me to lead Your people. Thank You for Your instructions through Your word and Your Holy Spirit that will bring salvation, healing, and deliverance to them.
In the past, like Moses, I have made so many excuses not to follow Your instructions. However, today I pledge to follow Your instructions so that person’s may be saved, set free, and become a part of Your kingdom. Amen
