God’s Instructions To Joseph the Husband of Mary

The birth of Jesus Christ came about this way: After His mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, it was discovered before they came together that she was pregnant by the Holy Spirit. So her husband Joseph, being a righteous man, and not wanting to disgrace her publicly, decided to divorce her secretly. But after he had considered these things, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared to him in a dream, saying,

“Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is by the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”
Matthew 1:18‭-‬21 HCSB

Good morning fellow disciples.

Did your perfect plan suddenly change to something awful?

Did someone that you love cause you to feel shame because of something that happened to them?

Have you ever been in a position where you wanted to run from what was happening?

Whatever the situation you were in, or currently are in, what did you choose to do after you considered the matter carefully?

In this story we see Joseph wanting to divorce his wife Mary because of seeming infidelity. But after he considered the matter an angel appeared onto him and told him to stay with Mary because the child was of God.

As Jesus’ disciple, when you consider things do you wait on God for direction?

Do you try to work things in your own power or do you communicate with God about the correct decision to make?

Sometimes the things that happen in life are not easy to understand or accept. In every situation the Lord wants us to make Godly choices. Not only does He want us to make Godly choices, He wants us to make the choices that are perfect for that situation.

Are you willing to follow God’s instructions when you are placed in a difficult situation?

Prayer: Father God, I will not be afraid to follow Your instructions. Even when things seem difficult, I know that You have placed me in that situation so that Your plans and purposes will be done.

I am Your humble servant. I choose to serve You so that others may be blessed and come to know You as Lord. Amen
