Then Joseph had a dream. When he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more. There we were, binding sheaves of grain in the field. Suddenly my sheaf stood up, and your sheaves gathered around it and bowed down to my sheaf.” Then he had another dream and told it to his brothers. “Look,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun, moon, and 11 stars were bowing down to me.” He told his father and brothers, but his father rebuked him. “What kind of dream is this that you have had? ” he said. “Are your mother and brothers and I going to come and bow down to the ground before you? ” His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind.

Good morning fellow disciples.
Sometimes God speaks to us in dreams. Sometimes His instructions aren’t very clear. Sometimes these dreams need to be interpreted. In this passage, we see God speaking to Joseph through dreams. In a sense God was telling him that he was going to be a ruler and he would be the preeminent one in his family.
The question you may be asking is, “What was God’s instruction to Joseph?” We don’t see it clearly expressed in this passage but from Joseph’s life we know that he was supposed to be someone who would save his family, and the world around him.
Many years later, after a series of unfortunate events Joseph became ruler over Egypt and through this position he administered relief to the world that was starving at that time. Included were his father and his brothers who eventually bowed down in homage to him, as these dreams predicted.
Has God ever spoken to you in a dream?
Has He spoken to you through visions?
Did you follow His instructions?
How did your obedience to Him help others?
Sometimes the time interval between God speaking to you and you fulfilling God’s instructions maybe a long time. Sometimes you will go through many hardships while waiting to fulfill God’s call on your life. Don’t despair! Be like Joseph who was faithful to God through all his circumstances!
Prayer: Father God, speak to me how You choose: Through dreams, through visions or Your audible Voice! I am waiting, and I’m willing to follow Your instructions! Amen
