Introduction: We continue our series on discipleship as taught and patterned for us by our Lord and Master Jesus Christ, looking at Jesus’ ministry to gain insights into the model of discipleship that He used to make The Father’s Kingdom known. This week we looked at the incarnation of Jesus as reported in Matthew 1:18-25 and we saw how Joseph and Mary were obedient to God.
Scripture: “You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.” Deuteronomy 13:4 NKJV
Insight: As a God fearing Jew, I can imagine that this passage of scripture was one that Joseph knew, and when the angel spoke to him, Joseph probably reflected on this and other verses of scripture and immediately OBEYED the God he loved and reverenced.
FEAR GOD, KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS, OBEY HIS VOICE, SERVE HIM AND HOLD FAST TO HIM!
This is exactly what Joseph did ! As disciples of Christ we also should do this. This is our duty as children of God. As we continue to learn more about Jesus and His life and teachings let us :FEAR GOD, KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS, OBEY HIS VOICE, SERVE HIM AND HOLD FAST TO HIM!
Prayer: Father God we love you, we honor You, we submit to You and we obey You ! We do Your will and we ask you to continue discipling us into the image of Your son. Amen
