He was amazed to see that no one intervened to help the oppressed. So, he himself stepped in to save them with his strong arm, and his justice sustained him.
Isaiah 59:16 NLT
Good morning fellow disciples.
Intercede: to intervene between parties with a view to reconciling differences; mediate; to plead on someone else’s behalf; or to intervene on behalf of another.
We live in a world that is full of sin, injustice and self-centered people. Left to our own devices, we will destroy each other. The rich, entitled, powerful persons oppress the majority of those who are around them. Who will stand up for the oppressed?
In Isaiah 59, we see these things happening. The court and religious system that is in place to help persons through their oppression is instead oppressing the people. It amazed God that no one wants to look for the oppressed, so what could He do.
God Himself stepped in to save the people!
God meted out the proper justice to the people.
Look at your situation, look at the world that you are living in and answer this question: “Are you intervening on behalf of the oppressed, and are you allowing justice to be served?”
Does God have to intervene on behalf of those who you should be interceding for?
If you are one of the oppressed that God is interceding on behalf of, what is your response to Him?
Prayer: Father God, Your greatest desire is for us to fellowship in unity with You. You have come down and interceded and intervened on our behalf through the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior.
No man, no law, no edict, could bring about reconciliation to You. We thank You, God, for coming in person to save us, to heal us, to deliver us, and to put us in right standing with You. Without Your intercession, we would be forever dead! Without your intervention, we would not know what it is to be truly alive.
We thank You God, for intervening on behalf of us, the oppressed. Thank You for giving us justice. Thank You for showing us Your truth. We worship and honor You, most high God. Hallelujah, hallelujah. Amen.
