Give Thanks for Your Teacher

By Andrew Williams

And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet.
John 13:14 NLT

Good morning fellow disciples.

What would your life have been like if you did not have persons who taught you?

Some have taught you informally, while it was the duty of others to be your teachers. What they learned, they taught you. Many of them have spent their lives learning and perfecting the art of instilling knowledge, wisdom, and understanding into you .

For many of them it is a labor of love. For many of them there is nothing else that they would rather do. Take for instance your parents, your older siblings, and other family members who have spent their lives teaching you how to live.

In John 13:14 NLT, Jesus says; And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet.

Teachers model the way that we should live, and they expect us to live what we have been taught. Not only that, they also expect us to go on to teach others the way to live.

Have you been doing that? Have you been teaching others what you have learned?

Take a moment to think of how many people have taught you. Aren’t you happy for each and every one of them?

Give thanks for your teachers!

Prayer: Father God, I am who I am because I was taught. Thank You for my teachers! They have taught me both good and bad things, but You have given me wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to be able to make the right choices.

I ask You to bless them and to keep them. Help them to continue to teach not only me, but others also. Help them to remain dedicated to the task of being teachers. Help me to emulate them as I also teach others what what they taught me.

Lord Jesus, thank You for being my teacher, my example, my master, my Lord. Thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit to live in me. Holy Spirit You have never left me or forsaken me, and You continue to teach me everyday to be like my master, Jesus Christ.

Thank you Father, thank You Jesus, thank You Holy Spirit for teaching me how to be a child of God! Amen.
