Give Thanks for Your Mother

By Andrew Williams

So Bathsheba went into the king’s bedroom. (He was very old now, and Abishag was taking care of him.) Bathsheba bowed down before the king. “What can I do for you?” he asked her. She replied, “My Lord, you made a vow before the Lord your God when you said to me, ‘Your son Solomon will surely be the next king and will sit on my throne.’ And now, my Lord the king, all Israel is waiting for you to announce who will become king after you. And the king repeated his vow: “As surely as the Lord lives, who has rescued me from every danger, your son Solomon will be the next king and will sit on my throne this very day, just as I vowed to you before the Lord, the God of Israel.”

Good morning fellow disciples.

Are you grateful for your mom?

Do you thank God for her every day?

I am sure that Solomon was very grateful for his mother Bathsheba. Not only was she his mother, but she pleaded on his behalf for his father King David to make him king. This happened at a time when his older brother had just declared himself King of Israel without their father King David sanctioning it.

Solomon became the next king because of his mother’s intervention.

As you think about your mother:

What did she sacrifice for you?

How did her love and care impact your destiny?

Do you remember the little things and the big things that she has done that are unforgettable?

Do you see how much she is still doing to make you happy?

Prayer: Father God, thank You for my mother! Without her, I would not exist. I thank You for both the good and the bad that she has done. Because of them my life has been impacted. I know that she isn’t perfect, Lord, but I’m grateful for everything that she has done for me.

I am grateful for the sacrifices that she has made so that I can be the person that I am today. Even now, she continues to live a life that is teaching me how to be a better person. Her continued love and care for me is forever appreciated. I love her God, and I thank You for placing her in my life .

Continue to bless her! Give her a long life, health, safety and peace. May she continue to live her life pleasing and acceptable to You. Amen.
