Give Thanks for Your Friends

By Andrew Williams

There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.
Proverbs 18:24 NLT

Good morning fellow disciples.

A friend is one attached to another by affection or esteem.

Friendship is a wonderful thing.

Do you have good friends? You should give thanks for them.

As you give thanks for your friends, ponder these questions: “Who is your best friend”? Why is this person your best friend?

Abraham and David were called friends of God. Is God your friend, or are you a friend of God?

Can you really be God’s friend?

Hear the words of the Son of God, recorded in John 15:14‭-‬15 NLT:
“You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.”

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You said in John 15:12‭-‬14 NLT:
“This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.”

We thank You for being our friend and laying down Your life for us! Because of You we can have fellowship and righteous relationships with God. Thank You!

We will love each other the way that You commanded. Thank You for our friends who are living by Your command to love the way you did! These are our true friends who stick closer than a brother. Thank You for freeing them so that they can be the friends that truly matter. Amen.
