Give Thanks for Your Father

By Andrew Williams

In assigning the priests to their duties, Solomon followed the regulations of his father, David. He also assigned the Levites to lead the people in praise and to assist the priests in their daily duties. And he assigned the gatekeepers to their gates by their divisions, following the commands of David, the man of God. Solomon did not deviate in any way from David’s commands concerning the priests and Levites and the treasuries.
2 Chronicles 8:14-‬15 NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Good morning fellow disciples.

This month we will be giving thanks for the things that are in our lives. Today we begin by giving thanks to God for our fathers.

In this passage we see Solomon following the instructions of his father David, who had made preparations for the construction of the temple, and for the worship within the temple.

I believe Solomon must have been very thankful for the provisions that his father King David had made. King David had prepared money, construction items, wrote hymns of praise, and organized the persons for the roles that they would play in the temple .

Has your father made preparations for you so that your life can be better?

Has he taught you how to be a good person?

Has he prepared you to be the person that will surpass him in everything that he did?

If you have a father, or a father figure who has played important roles in your life, give thanks for him now!

Prayer: Father God, I want to thank You for my father who showed me the good and the bad things in life. By his words and his example He has shown me how to be a better person. He may not have been perfect, Lord, but I have learned from him, and I’m grateful for the role that he played in my life.

Thank you for leading and guiding him and showing him how to be a Dad to me. Even though he is no longer with us I want to thank You for the time that You allowed him to be with us.

On behalf of all of those who he influenced, loved, fathered, mentored, and taught; I want to thank You God. May we all learn from his example and live our lives as good parents to our children, amen.
