Give Thanks for Your Church

By Andrew Williams

They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.
Acts of the Apostles 2:46‭-‬47 NLT

Good morning fellow disciples.

You may be used to thinking of the church as a building—a place where you go. But God’s Word talks about the church as a gathering—a people you belong to.

The word “church” is used in the Bible three different ways—
• the universal church—all the people who were, are and will ever be followers of Jesus
• the city or regional church—all the people who follow Jesus and live in or around a certain area of the world
• the church at home or the simple church—all the people who follow Jesus and meet where one or more of them live.

Whether you belong to a simple church, a regional church {that usually meets in a building}, or both, the important thing is that you are a part of the body of Christ.

The “church ” is both who you are and where you meet to fellowship, share with one another, to grow as disciples, and to equip each other to serve in God’s Kingdom.

Give thanks for your church!

Give thanks for the simple church (the two or three who gather in Jesus’ Name)!

Give thanks for your regional church (your local congregation or the group of churches that you belong to)!

Give thanks for the universal church (all the people who were, are and will ever be followers of Jesus)!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I am overjoyed to be a member of Your ecclesia, Your body, Your church!

Thank You for the body of believers, past, present and future who make up Your Kingdom here on earth. As we continue to learn how to live like You Lord, may we equip and fellowship with each other the way You commanded, and make disciples wherever we go. Amen.
