Follow Me

By Andrew Williams – April 16, 2021

Scripture After this Jesus went out and noticed a tax collector named Levi (Matthew) sitting at the tax booth; and He said to him, “Follow Me [as My disciple, accepting Me as your Master and Teacher and walking the same path of life that I walk].” And he left everything behind and got up and began to follow Jesus [as His disciple]. Luke 5:27‭-‬28 AMP

Observation :  And he left everything behind and got up and began to follow Jesus [as His disciple], Accepting Him as his master and teacher, and began walking the same path of life that Jesus was walking. Matthew was successful in his chosen occupation, but when Jesus told him to follow him and change his life, he willingly gave up everything. The question that everybody needs to answer is: Am I willing to give up everything that I’m used to in order to live a life that mimics Jesus’ way of life?

Application : As I sit here contrasting my lifestyle with what Jesus requires, I know that I need to make a choice! Today I choose to follow Jesus! I will give up everything that keeps me from following Jesus fully.

Prayer : Lord Jesus I choose to follow you by making you my Lord, my master, my teacher, and I will live my life the way that you prescribe. Amen.
