First Mention

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2 NLT

Good morning fellow disciples.

I love God’s Holy Spirit, don’t you?

For the foreseeable future, we will be looking at the Holy Spirit as mentioned in the Bible. Today we look at the first mention of God’s Spirit. Genesis 1:1-2 tells us that God created the earth and at that point when everything was formless, His Spirit was moving upon the waters.

God’s Holy Spirit was present at creation and was integral in the creation of everything that ever came into being. God’s Holy Spirit has been in this world from the very beginning. The fact that He now lives within us is something awesome and unfathomable.

When Jesus was about to leave, He said that He would send God’s Spirit to live within us and that He would lead us into all truth. All truth! Can you really comprehend that?

If God’s Holy Spirit was to reveal everything that He knew about this world to you, could you really contain it within you? He knows everything!

I want us to look at God’s Holy Spirit with new eyes. Let us really get to know Him! Today we see Him as existing before creation and being one of the Godhead who created everything, including us.

Prayer: Almighty God, we know that You are omnipresent and that You are in this world. Your Holy Spirit is with us and in those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We thank You, Holy Spirit for being with us. We thank You for loving us, guiding us, protecting us, and teaching us.

You have been here from the beginning, and You will be with us forever. We want to know You, Holy Spirit. Reveal Yourself to us, I pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
